After graduating, Stephanie Fillyaw entered the Masters of International Studies program at the University of South Carolina, graduating magna cum laude in 2011 with concentrations in international relations and comparative politics. Having excelled in the rapid-paced


environment of retail management, Stephanie went on to contribute in corporate America for McMaster- Carr Supply, where she served as a founding member of the company’s first Inclusion and Diversity Council. Outside of work, she is a small business entrepreneur, podcast host and freelance writer covering topics of political, cultural and social cleavages throughout the African diaspora. Gardening and travel keep her busy on most occasions.


Katie Walsh Gilbert has been busy practicing family law at Rech Law, P.C., and recently was certified as a family law specialist by the North Carolina State Bar, which requires meeting rigorous standards of practice and testing. Katie was also named as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the second year in a row. She continues to live in Charlotte and enjoys chasing after her three-year-old, Ava, along with her husband, Jon.


2010 Joel Tomkinson and Claire Lowrance Tomkinson ’08 are enjoying life on their homestead in Mooresville, North Carolina. Tey are raising two girls, along with chickens, ducks, goats, pigs and many more beautiful living creatures! Joel works for Spectrum, and Claire continues to paint. Martha-Mac Harris MFA ’09 received the Adjunct Instructor of the Year Award for 2020 at Stanly Community College in Albemarle, North Carolina.


Greg Roberts ’11 was selected to the U.S. Navy Reserve Direct Commission Officer Program.


Stephanie Bello ’12 became the deputy city clerk for The City of Charlotte in January.


Jennifer Hull MA ’13 joined Ally as their early talent recruiting manager in August.


Alma Beciragic ’14 started a new position as a water engineer and management consultant at Arcadis.


Chanelle Hinton ’14 accepted a position as program manager at Family and Youth Initiative.


Lisa Morgan MBA ’15 has accepted a business manager, vice president position for Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG).


Tyler Greene ’17 accepted a position as communication specialist at Coca-Cola Consolidated.


Elisabeth King ’20 obtained a job as director with GSM Services in Gastonia, North Carolina.
