Shoot Your Shot: Perry Family Broadcast Studio Opens Doors for Students
Thanks to the generosity of Karen and Brandon Perry, the newly renovated Perry Family Broadcast Studio is transforming the student experience at the intersection of academics and athletics. Their investment has opened new doors for learning, creativity, and connection — for students and Royals fans alike.
Professor Joe Cornelius, associate professor of film production, incorporates the studio directly into his coursework, giving students real-world experiences that prepare them for competitive careers.
“The practical assignments equip students with essential skills they can immediately apply in professional setings,” Cornelius said. “These hands-on experiences not only enhance their resumes but also closely mirror the competencies required for careers in the sports broadcasting industry. The diverse opportunities available allow students to explore various pathways within sports communication, preparing them for success in the field.”
Investments in both physical and programmatic spaces empower Queens to remain agile, relevant, and responsive to student needs in an ever-evolving professional landscape.
