Salvin Entrepreneurial Pitch Competition
Longtime Queens supporter and Trustee Bob Salvin believes in the power of clear communication — especially when it comes to complex ideas. As the program’s new namesake, his belief is brought to life each year through the Salvin Entrepreneurial Pitch Competition, where students develop, refine, and present bold business concepts to a panel of local experts and seasoned entrepreneurs.
Bob’s dedicated, philanthropic support has helped shape the competition into a hallmark experience that emphasizes creativity, ingenuity, mentorship, and networking. Open to students from all disciplines, the program encourages entrepreneurial thinking across campus.
This year’s winner, Jake Cendejas ’25, impressed the judges with Sentiment, a venture focused on smart tokens that foster real-time user engagement with venues.
“Stepping into this competition for the first time was truly eye- opening,” Jake shared. “Professor Figu’s Entrepreneurial Mindset course was the spark that ignited my journey. It pushed me to learn, to grow, and to challenge my own limits. My goal was to develop an idea I was deeply passionate about — one that could potentially lead me to places I’ve never been before.”
Through experiences like these, Queens empowers students to think big, act boldly, and share their ideas with the world.
