GUN AND KNIFE RECOVERED AFTER MAN ‘TRIES TO STAB’ LONDON TAXI DRIVER
A man armed with a knife and a gun allegedly threatened to stab a taxi driver in West Norwood. The driver called police at 2.25am and told officers he had been attacked by a man with a knife on Knights Hill.
The victim did not suffer any injuries. Following a foot chase, a 22-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of class A drugs and
attempted grievous bodily harm. “He remained in cus- tody at a South London police sta- tion, where enquir- ies into the circum- stances continue,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.
TAXI DRIVER LEFT WITH FACIAL INJURIES AFTER BEING ATTACKED IN CRAWLEY
A taxi driver has been left with facial injuries after he was punched in the face during a journey in Crawley. More Radio reports that police said the victim picked up two women and a man in Basildon Way, Bewbush, and started to head
towards the town centre. The driver was then attacked in the Byrd Road area, where the three passen- gers exited the vehicle. Both women were described as being between 18 and 22- years old, white, around 5’ 6” tall, of
slim build and with blonde hair. The man was described as mixed race, aged between 18 and 21, 5’ 5”, of average build and with black short hair. Police are asking anyone with infor- mation to contact them by calling 101 quoting 1379 27/04.
FOUR PEOPLE ARRESTED AFTER TAXI DRIVER ROBBED IN GATESHEAD
Four people have been arrested after a taxi driver was robbed of his tak- ings with a hammer in Gateshead. The “frightening” incident unfolded in the early hours on Eastbourne Avenue, in Bensham, where the driver, who works for Dean Taxis, was targeted. Residents

were also conducted at an address on Eastbourne Avenue, where the robbery occurred, where police found clothing matching those worn by the suspects. A 38-year-old man and 34-year-old woman who were inside the address have also since been arrested and remain in police custody. Chief

Alan Pitchford said: “This must have been a frightening incident for the driver of the taxi and I hope the four arrests give him some reassurance.”
PASSENGER ARRESTED IN BIRMINGHAM AFTER MACHETE FOUND
Police arrested a taxi passenger for carrying a large knife concealed in his trousers in Sparkbrook, Birm- ingham. According to the Birmingham Mail, a cabbie had alerted his bosses about a customer carrying a weapon in his cab. Police arrived at the scene and found three people who were all searched. One was held in cus- tody for being in possession of an offensive wea- pon and Class B drugs. West Midlands Police’s Force Res- ponse team took to

POLICE PULL OVER TAXI IN LIVERPOOL AND FIND TWO MEN WITH MACHETE
Police seized a machete, cannabis and white powder after
recently
pulling over a taxi in Huyton. The Liverpool Echo reports that officers were out on patrol at around 5.45pm, when they stopped a taxi. A machete- type weapon and a quantity of cannabis was discovered inside the vehicle. Two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrest- ed at the scene and taken into custody for questioning. During a later search of the two men, white powder was also found and they were both further arrested for posses- sion with intent to
