OM: THE NPHTA
• using back-to-back or side-to-side working (rather than face-to-face) whenever possible
Also: Steps that will usually be needed:
Devising mitigation measures where workers have no alter- native but to work within 2m to minimise the risk of transmission, including:
• clear signage to outline social distancing measures in place • single person or contactless refuelling where possible • using physical screening, provided this does not compro- mise safety, for example, through reducing visibility
• sitting side-by-side not face-to-face and increasing ventila- tion where possible
So maybe we can take that to mean the government guid- ance is actually in support of the installation of screens? The issue being "Maybe"; we need a decision.
Another issue is that of PPE facemasks; this needs to be clear too. We have the PPE masks ready and available, and can obtain as many as needed within 14 to 28 days (variance depending on quantities required).
Please get in touch so we can make progress on this. David Lawrie Director National Private Hire and Taxi Association
Good afternoon David
I understand that the Department of Transport are already considering the matters that you have raised. However I am happy to flag it with Grant Shapps directly on your behalf and will respond as soon as I receive a detailed response.
Kind regards always Jake The Rt. Hon. Jake Berry MP for Rossendale & Darwen
Readers can see that if licence holders persist in
contacting their own local MP, they might just get some support - as evidenced here. But it takes some persistence to get to the powers that be within the higher offices of government; once again, the most reliable route is through your MP.
All we can do as an industry – as theNPHTA is doing on a daily basis – is to raise our concerns as often as possible.
If any readers wish to coordinate with the NPHTA in campaigning for our many causes, we’d very much like to hear from you. It would help if you were members, of course…
