Clare Welsh, Manag- ing Director at Wellman Cars in Hamilton decided to keep the local chil- dren entertained over Easter. So she decided to organise some colouring packs for kids who were stuck at home and feeling scared and unsure of what’s happening and what’s coming next in these un- precedented times. She said: “I thought a few kids would want a colouring pack and a wee Easter sweetie but didn’t think I would get orders in for over 150 in just a few days. “Hubby and I went out delivering each pack by hand (well
he drove whilst I printed, packed and left them on the doorstep after a quick chat at the door and hasty exit. “The happiness in the kids faces, you would think you were giving them their favourite toy
they had asked for for Christ- mas. It has been and is a truly humbling experience. 68 packs have been printed and delivered so far with orders for 100 plus more to come.
MORRISONS STAFF HAND OUT GOODIES TO GLASGOWCABBIES
Staff at Morrisons in Newlands have been helping out in the community, by sending bags of 'goodies' to cab drivers working dur- ing lockdown. The Glasgow Times reports that parcels were handed over by the supermarket staff as a thank you to drivers at Glas- gow Taxis for their work during the pandemic. Dougie McPherson, Glasgow Taxis chair- man, said: "This is a brilliant gesture from our friends at Morrisons.

A private hire firm has handed out more than £10,000 worth of discounts to the city’s key workers during lock- down. Kind-hearted boss- es at Network Private Hire have dug deep to sup- port Glasgow’s heroes who are con- tinuing to rely on their services. Nurses, doctors, carers, and shop as- sistants are among those who have benefitted from a £2 discount on all fares for travel across the city.
John Paul Cassidy, senior manager at Network, said: “We had originally set out to do this for NHS staff only, then it became clear how much our service was needed for all key workers. “This has all come from our own pock- et and we have given out around £10,000 worth of discounts to our city’s heroes. “In some cases, including a pharma- cy worker, we can be giving a £2 dis- count on a £4 fare, meaning we are giv-
ing people half price journeys. We are probably only run- ning at about 55 per cent capacity but still want to do what we can. “It’s important to emphasise the dis- count is from our own pocket and not a penny is taken from the drivers. They are still getting their full fare and we are so thankful for them.” It’s just one of the ways the firm has gone the extra mile to help those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.
