A PHV driver has vowed to never work in East Lan- cashire again after he was threatened with a knife in the early hours of 1 June. Tariq Mohammed, a driver for Max Cabs, was sent to a pick- up in Accrington, but when he pulled up to the kerb the
door of his cab was pulled open by a man holding a hunt- ing
knife and
screaming at him to get out. Luckily he was able to pull away and escape, but he has been left shaken and shocked and said he is too intimated to work in the area
again. He is now urg- ing other taxi drivers to be aware of the dangers. The incident was immediately report- ed to the police, who acted quickly and arrested a 40- year-old man from Oswaldtwistle. He has since been re- leased on bail.
ARMED POLICE FIND SAWN-OFF SHOTGUN IN BACK OF LONDON TAXI
Police have charged a couple from Lad- broke Grove after a sawn-off shotgun was found in the back of a taxi. A joint surveillance was being undertak- en by armed officers from the Met Police and the National Crime Agency in West London when they stopped and searched a taxi on Friday, June 12. Offi- cers found the huge
gun along with five shotgun cartridges. Nicola Tomlinson, 32,
