NEWKEBAB SHOP OPENED IN BURTON BY TAXI BOSS STAFFED BY HIS STRUGGLING DRIVERS
Abid Hussain,
owner of Premier Taxis in Burton, has taken matters into his own hands to ensure that his struggling drivers have a source of income and has opened a new kebab shop in the town. Mr Hussain, 39, said:
“The taxi
trade is really suf- fering, we are still doing our bit for the community and offering free travel for NHS staff and key workers, but we still needed
Abid Hussain and right the Kebab House
something to pay the bills and boost our income. I had made plans to turn the extra space into a kebab shop, and in a way hav- ing a lot of time has helped me to
finalise the take- away and get it up and running. “My drivers have been battling to build a good income during the pandemic, so I decided to utilise
ten staff members and give them vari- ous roles inmy new business. A few drivers are deliver- ing the food and the rest are helping prepare the food and take cus- tomer’s orders.
“So far the
response on social media and from customers
has
been really good. We have a lot of regulars who use our taxi service and they
are very happy with a new
kebab house open- ing in Burton. Mr Hussain has a ‘unique recipe for his kebabs’ and he thinks that this will give him an edge over other kebab shops in the area. He added: “I have managed to get a later licence and can trade until 5am on Thursday, Fri- day, Saturday and Sunday. We have a prime location and I’m very confident that once the lock- down has finished we will have some good trade.”
