Those who passed then attended a gradu- ation ceremony at which they were award- ed their qualifications by the directors of their employing companies. The qualification also earned them a VRQ in Transporting Passen- gers by Taxi and Private Hire and is equivalent to five GCSEs at grade A to C.
Places had been offered free to eligible drivers in the town through the national
Train to Gain project. Comments from the drivers show that how- ever experienced they may be, they learnt a lot from the course and subsequently recom- mended it to their colleagues.
Anne Howes, training manager for ABA Training, told the Har- low Herald: “We are very proud of all the drivers who have shown such dedication and enthusiasm in suc- cessfully completing the course. It has been a real success and much of that is due to the way drivers have supported and encour- aged each other in the challenge of learning new skills to improve their service.”
