FANZONES
The objective of the eight City Celebrations / Fanzones was to deliver a relevant and engaging activation in each host city to showcase the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the sport of cricket to diverse audiences.

Permanent LOC staff with an additional 30-40 for the tournament. These were joined in the UK by 70 ICC staff and temporary consultants/ secondees from Member Boards ahead of the tournament.

Simple-to-play cricket activations, based on the ECB’s All Stars Cricket model of running, throwing, catching, bowling and batting, breaking the game down to its constituent parts.
Actions processed by WeTrack, the innovative programme management system used for the first time by ICC for this tournament.
City-centre, high-footfall locations were chosen to reach as many people as possible, especially families with younger children. Local entertainment, music and MCs helped to deliver an experience that was relevant to the city and the nations playing in that ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup match.
The original attendance target of 120,000 was at least doubled with close to 300,000 people attending the Fanzones.
