There was still plenty of excitement to come, with Malaysia needing to beat Bermuda by a substantial margin to leapfrog Denmark in second place on net run-rate. The hosts started strongly, putting on 257 for eight, and were well on track to secure promotion when they reduced Bermuda to 37 for six. Malaysia needed to keep their opponents under 161 to claim second place but a rearguard partnership between Janeiro  succession of sixes despite suffering an injury, helped the Bermudans get to 168 for nine, and 

Since the start of the ICC World Cricket League – 2007 to 2009 – it has worked as a pathway for non-Full Member sides to qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup, as well as providing a platform for the teams to showcase their skills. The current cycle will run till 2022.
