CHAMPIONING WORLD CRICKET // CRICKET


There was a collective desire to create a culture of respect and protect the spirit of the game and a number of recommendations were made:


• Giving greater authority and support to 


• Greater leadership accountability for Boards and team support staff


• Clear expectations for the treatment of visiting teams particularly around practice facilities, warm up matches and logistical arrangements


• Greater education for all young players on the history and spirit of the game


The Committee also made these  Code of Conduct offences:


• Raising the sanctions associated with ball tampering


• Creating a new offence for offensive, personal, insulting, offensive or orchestrated abuse


• The consideration of the introduction of a new offence of attempting to gain an unfair advantage


• Creating a Code of Respect


• Match referee to have the authority to downgrade or upgrade a level of offence or sanction

In January, changes to the ICC Pitch and   substandard, that venue will be allocated a number of demerit points.


One demerit point will be awarded to venues whose pitches are rated by the match referees  points will be awarded to venues whose pitches 


 points, it will be suspended from hosting any international cricket for a period of 12 months, while a venue will be suspended from staging any international cricket for 24 months when it reaches the threshold of 10 demerit points. Demerit points will remain active for a rolling 


The aim is to producing the best possible pitch for that particular venue that will promote a balanced contest between bat and ball.


A medical advisory committee was established during the year while concussion guidelines have been agreed and distributed to all Member countries. The aim is to establish a consistency of awareness and treatment programmes across all countries.


The 2017 changes to Laws of the Cricket were implemented, including the limitation on bat sizes and the umpires’ ability to send a player 


At the most recent meeting of the ICC Cricket Committee in May, three new members    replaced Clare Connor as the women’s  replaced Kevin O’Brien as the Associate Members’ representative.
