v New Zealand – Josh Hazlewood (AUS) MOST DISMISSALS BY WICKETKEEPER

South Africa will perhaps be the most disappointed  ranked team in this format, but won just a single game in the group stages. Their losses, however,  form of those teams.

Considering the quality on show, it is little wonder that the competition was also a record-breaking one in terms of the number of people that followed it, online, on screen, and in the grounds.

More than half of all the games were sold out, including all games played by hosts England and holders India, with ticket sales outstripping those for the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, even before this tournament had begun. The spirit and fervour displayed by the fans was also marked, extending far beyond the support enjoyed by the traditional powerhouses.

The ticket reselling system, via which fans could  attending, proved hugely successful. It was most  England, for which more than 30 per cent of the original buyers listed India as their favoured team. More than 3,000 tickets were posted leading up to the game.

The tournament was acknowledged as a ‘smart’ and ‘innovative’ event with the use of the Intel pitch drone, Intel bat chips mounted on cricket bats to generate data for every stroke the batsmen  cricket and personalised direct messages from the ICC’s Twitter account.
