FOREWORD // CHIEF EXECUTIVE’S REPORT

09

Following on from an increase in unedifying  months, the ICC has instigated a review of the Code of Code to ensure we can build a culture of respect and protect the spirit of the game.

It is important to note that the spirit of cricket belongs to not only the players but all of us – current players, past players, umpires and referees, administrators and fans. As such we are all responsible for making sure that the phrase “that’s just not cricket” remains relevant in the English language well into the future.

To date, there have been three main areas of discussion. Firstly, what can Member boards do to create a better atmosphere of respect between teams and to provide for a fair contest    Code, the associated level of sanctions and the process for the consistent reporting, hearing and adjudication of charges brought under the Code.

The Cricket Committee has made a series of recommendations to be shared with the Chief Executives’ Committee and the Board at the July meetings, and from there we will create a plan to implement.

Our ACU team have continued its good work under the leadership of new General Manager Alex Marshall and all the recommendations from the Integrity Working Party report have now been adopted.

The threat from unscrupulous criminals is still very present, but we have increased our resources in the department and remain committed to a corruption free sport. There will be no complacency in this area as the team continue to focus on prevention, disruption, investigation and prosecution in partnership with our Members.

In cricket, we are lucky to enjoy the support of a number of key partners; our global broadcast  and media rights partners, who ensure more of the world can follow and enjoy our sport as  Emirates Airline, MoneyGram, Hublot, Treasury Wine Estates and brand licensing partners Sports Travel & Hospitality Group and Velocity Brand Management.

Finally, I would like say thank you to the ICC Board for their continued support and to the ICC team around the world, your dedication and commitment to the growth of the sport is exceptional, keep up the good work.
