“I had to get back to my community service, the social worker and that were helpful in getting [daughter] into nursery. They paid for it at the start and stuff like that, and that’s been brilliant for her development because it was only me and her. She was only around me so she was going to be dead clingy to me and stuff like that, but she’s just come on leaps and bounds since she’s been in the nursery and she’s just doing brilliant.” (Female, 30-34, urban)
Criminal justice social workers were also praised by this male sex offender living in a rural area:
“When I was in prison they were talking about social workers and they all got a bad rap but when I came out and when I talked to the social worker inside, they were perfect and they were straight talking, they tell you what they expect and what they expect from you and asked, what I expect from them and all that, so it was great…. All layman’s terms and all that, no big words.” (Male, 55-59, rural)
