EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR QUICK TAKES
Internship Program Provides an Experience with Purpose
providing a valuable experience to interns and the provider alike—even through the pandemic. Established with three summer interns, the
R
program is designed to give “hands-on, tacti- cal training working directly with RUI team members on a community or a corporate lev- el.” The provider established safe processes by which the interns could complete their internships on-site in a community. Mentored by executive directors and de- partment directors, interns were required
etirement Unlimited is finding that its RUI LIMITLESS internship program it launched in 2020 is
to complete a Legacy project that would grow their knowledge and skills and benefit the community. These included a training manual for the provider’s Inspiritas memory care program, a men’s group manual, and a sales and marketing competitive analysis. Another intern, working during the 2020- 2021 school year, worked directly with the chief accounting officer for a procurement sustainability project. “With our comprehensive hands-on
approach to guiding young professionals through our internship program, we are excited to have had the opportunity to recruit several of our interns as full-time
employees,” says Doris-Ellie Sullivan, pres- ident of RUI. “Directly being a part of this transition
proves the value of connecting with students and helping them grow to be professionals.” Two interns were offered jobs at RUI,
and the provider is recruiting interns for fall 2021 in all departments. The provider is planning to involve in-
terns in more of its signature programs, including considering offering them learning opportunities through its RUI University and exploring recruiting phys- ical therapy students for its RUI Fit pro- gram. Learn more at
