Mentor Martyn Jones said: “Founder Kelly Bolton had a good idea of where she wanted to be, but she didn’t have a sufficiently clear, detailed plan of how to get there.”


A group of schoolchildren from Belthorn Academy Primary School was invited to What More UK’s high-tech factory in Altham. Students, teachers and governors witnessed the scale of the operation which turns out 5.6 million pieces of plastic a month. Emma Nolan, vice chair of the governors, said: “In a business like What More there are many jobs available, from IT to engineering, marketing to HR. For us, this visit is about children seeing opportunities early on.”


Conlon Living, the housebuilding arm of Conlon Construction, is building on its promise to prioritise the engagement of a local supply chain after announcing a recently acquired site for nine new luxury homes. The Preston firm will deliver a bespoke development of four- and five- bedroom high specification detached homes at Haighlands, in Forton, near Lancaster University. Land and planning director Justin Sheil said: “With this development, and any others we venture towards, we will continue to champion the craftsmanship, skills and products that are readily available on our doorstep.”
