REDEFINING WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A LAW FIRM

Law firms often have a reputation for being quite conservative - with a small c – in their approach to business. Enter CG Professional, redefining what it means to be a law firm supporting modern business.

CG was established to challenge the status quo, while ensuring it delivers high quality, dynamic and fundamentally commercial legal advice to the market.

From the moment you walk into CG’s bespoke offices you know this isn’t the normal run-of-the-mill law firm.

There’s a modern but professional atmosphere, the décor is light and welcoming and the first-floor meeting and waiting areas feel more like a city centre eatery with internal garden walls, booth seating and beverage menu.

The different culture and ethos adopted from the start has meant there has been no trouble attracting clients and new members to the team. Founded from a different angle than many firms, the CG board started with a rare blank canvas.

With legal expertise from Stacey Turner and Louise Myers, supported in the strategy by those already in business Adam and Andrew Turner, the firm was able to build an agile approach right from the start.

Stacey says: “Our ethos and culture is different to most firms. Our modern vision attracts the right calibre of lawyers, ensuring we’re able to give our clients a confident and professional level of service. We have a big city approach to our service levels but at the heart of it all is the relationship with our clients.”

It is this approach that attracted CG’s newest recruits, even at this incredibly challenging time.

Katy Parkinson is joining the firm as senior associate solicitor from Forbes. Katy specialises in employment law and will be joining a well- established team to assist with unprecedented growing demand.

There is so much potential for a more approachable,

commercial and dynamic player in the regional market

In its biggest announcement so far, and in something of a coup, Benjamin Dredge is joining the CG board as a managing partner and head of corporate from the Manchester office of Shoosmiths – demonstrating the confidence and commitment to expand and drive the company forward.

Benjamin says: “I’ve been very aware of CG since they started. I trained with Stacey and have previously worked with both her and Louise, so I knew exactly how talented and driven they both are.

“Initially I didn’t appreciate the strength of what is already at CG in terms of their approach to client relationships, growth ambition and the team’s passion to be different. There is so much potential for a more approachable, commercial and dynamic player in the regional market. There are all too many clients that don’t receive enough passion and enthusiasm for their business when reduced to one of hundreds of other clients who are simply attracted by a big city name. We want to

deliver big city firm service levels, without the national firm overheads and combine it with a passionate and commercial approach to the advice and support we offer.”

“Now more than ever businesses need trusted advisors and they should be supporting their clients to help them survive and plan a route to recovery whilst maximising advantages in a time of enormous uncertainty.

“I want to build on so much of what the team have already done to establish an equally attractive corporate and commercial offering.”

Louise says: “The CG vision has been clearly defined from the start. We provide advice to businesses how they want it and when they want it. Our versatility, and placing the client front and centre, has always allowed us to meet the needs of the commercial world that our clients operate in.”

This versality proved invaluable when the coronavirus outbreak started, and lockdown began. There was no disruption in service and the whole team was successfully working from home within 24 hours. They have also extended their offering to 24/7 to cater to their clients’ needs.

Louise says: “These are unprecedented times and we want to make sure that we support our clients all the way through this. Our culture and way of working is unique in the legal industry and we’re proud of the difference we are making.”
