Preston-based marketing agency ICG flew into action for long-standing client Blackpool Zoo after a job vacancy for a human seagull deterrent made headlines around the world.
News of the extraordinary job role, which involves the successful applicants wearing an inflatable eagle costume, had reached as far as Kenya, Borneo, Australia, Canada, Germany and America.
ICG’s PR team spent two weeks supporting the zoo’s marketing department to answer media enquiries from across the globe.
As well as extensive coverage in the UK, The Wall Street Journal got in touch while other international media cuttings included Huffington Post, CNN, The Washington Post, The Indian Express, Fox News, and the South China Morning Express.

More than 12,000 people attended the Accrington Food and Culture Festival. The event, sponsored by North Lancs Training Group, Hyndburn Council, Cardboard Box Company and Financial Affairs, was officially opened by the mayor of Hyndburn, before a day of entertainment including live cooking demonstrations, a war reenactment, a Spitfire flypast and the very best of Lancashire produce and continental food stalls. The Blackpool sales team from motor business Chorley Group, one of 16 businesses the company operates in the North West, has been awarded a prestigious national Customer Care Award by Citroen. The award is based on the results from a customer satisfaction survey completed by everyone who buys a new Citroen across the entire dealer network.
Preston-based Lustalux has partnered with artist Dave Robinson on a project which has seen his depictions of local scenes and landmarks turned into murals and installed at prominent businesses, schools and, most recently, the Royal Preston Hospital.
North West based motor group Swansway has reported a profit of £23.3m in its annual financial results for 2022 which, after a goodwill amortisation of £1m, resulted in a pre-tax profit of £22.3m. This represents an 11 per cent decline from the record profits seen in 2021, but more than double the pre-tax profits achieved in 2020.
