HIGH-QUALITY, FLEXIBLE AND TAILORED APPRENTICESHIPS WITH NELSON AND COLNE COLLEGE GROUP

Nelson and Colne College Group (NCCG) has an outstanding track record for its apprenticeship and training provision.

High-quality, flexibility and tailored delivery is the essence of the college group’s offer, and the brand approach is focused on the power of three – a successful synergy between apprentice, employer and the college. That is why NCCG is best placed to provide services to employers right across Lancashire and beyond.

Talent matching is a key aspect of NCCG’s apprenticeship and training offer, and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) is one organisation the college group supports with this through work placements, which can lead on to apprenticeships thereafter. In a year when the NHS has come under intense pressure during the coronavirus pandemic, young apprentices have been playing an integral role in keeping it functioning.

Joe Cook, 21, was one of those students from Nelson and Colne College whose potential was identified while on a work placement within the Trust. He is now completing a Level 3 Electrical and Biomedical Engineering Apprenticeship at ELHT.

Joe said: “I have been really busy this year, and my work has been more varied because of the pandemic and working arrangements.

I have been carrying out repair work on new and different equipment as senior engineers have been occupied with other work. I’ve relished the opportunity as it is building my experience and I enjoy the responsibility. I have had really good support during my apprenticeship and it is developing the skills I need to succeed in my career.”

his Level 3 Leadership and Management Apprenticeship, which he has praised for the career progression it has achieved.

Yasin said: “I’m thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship and I love putting the theory I’m learning into practice and I’m constantly trying new things out on the team. The apprenticeship has also given me the confidence and motivation to keep progressing into a more senior management position, and I definitely will work towards achieving further leadership and management qualifications at higher levels in the future.”

The college group also has the contract to deliver apprenticeships for Lancashire County Council’s most significant recruitment areas, and these include health and social care and schools. Other developments include carefully tailoring apprenticeships in leadership and management that are aligned to the county council’s culture and ethos.

Yasin Bux, 36, a parking and enforcement officer team leader, is about to complete

Nelson and Colne College Group incorporates Nelson and Colne College, Accrington and Rossendale College, and Lancashire Adult Learning, and it currently supports approximately 1,300 Apprentices. The college group’s offer consists of over 100 Apprenticeships from Level 2 to Degree Level.

NCCG has a professional, dedicated and experienced apprenticeship team whose rigour for quality and determination to succeed ensures that Apprentices achieve the very best they can.
