The water sector is going through a challenging time as companies are under more and more pressure to deliver quality services at competitive prices. During this challenging period it is often easy to overlook the successes, the achievements, the technology and the people that all help deliver a valuable resource we take for granted as Paul Horton, CEO of Future Water Association explains.

“The Ebb and Flow photography competition was created to celebrate the UK Water Sector and provide a platform to acknowledge the amazing innovation and engineering that has put the UK on the map as world leaders in water management systems. Future Water Association is celebrating its 30 year anniversary and we thought a competition to celebrate the UK Water Sector was fitting.”

The competition has been supported by Future Water Association, Severn Trent, PwC and Blu-3. The winning photographs will be exhibited at the offices of Severn Trent and at PwC’s prestigious offices in London as well as being featured in a souvenir catalogue.

The winner, announced at a special awards ceremony at the Pump Rooms in Leamington, was Duncan Turner from Droitwich for his stunning

Duncan explains how he feels about winning first place, “I was totally shocked but very pleased to have my photo placed first, particularly as there were so many strong entries in the competition. It was wonderful to see a competition dedicated to some of our stunning waterways and features and I was really inspired by the entries. I’m looking forward to seeing all the photographs displayed at Severn Trent Water and hopefully entering next year’s competition.”

Paul Horton adds, “Duncan’s photograph is not only a stunning piece of art, it also very evocative. Managing water in an urban environment and thinking of that urban environment as part of the water resources system is critical.”
