Main Feature
The new camera system is designed to be used in pipelines from 25 mm up to 150 mm diameter. It is complimentary the successful vCam5 unit that is already used by many contractors.
It comes with 2 different camera choices including a self-levelling 26 mm diameter head and a smaller 18 mm diameter head for the smaller lines. Both cameras offer a class leading picture quality letting the contractor or plumber get into lines previously too small.
The vCamMX has 2 reel lengths either 30 m or 45 m comprising highly flexible, yet stiff enough to push, rod which allows operators to get it round the smallest of bends whilst utilising the picture quality to inspect any issues.
Also on show will be the vScan and vScanM which it is claimed represent the latest in Cable Avoidance Tools. Features surpass similar products and there are a number of unique attributes that ensure increased safety to operators and infrastructure. After numerous trials with contractors, Vivax-Metrotech has designed a tool with the user and the fleet manager in mind.
All Vivax-Metrotech Locators have a two Year Calibration/service interval. This cuts the ownership costs of Cable Avoidance tool compared to having to get the equipment every year as before. This also means less down time as the unit is only away from site once every 2 years.
Various standard features offered on all vScan units over and above the usual features at no extra cost include:

• Self-test/calibration: There is no requirement to send the equipment for regular and expensive test and calibration, new patented approach means the operator can undertake tests simply and results are recorded internally for later inspection or certificate printing.
• Data Logging with Optional GPS: Full data logging functionality to identify correct usage and training requirements which increases efficiency of the operator. Can also be used to identify if the unit was being used prior to a cable strike for instance.
• Depth and Current Measurements: Depth and current measurements ensure that the correct line is located and also helps planning maintenance work. (The more information available the more efficient excavations etc.) Note that this feature can be disabled if it does not meet the companies work practices.
• Large dot matrix display with auto backlight: This helps the user to accurately read the display that on smaller screens can seem cluttered and confusing. The high resolution high contrast display ensures full functionality in all light conditions.
