the drainage, water & wastewater event

What’s new for the

water & drainage sector? Find out at Drain-Ex 2017

With ever-tightening budgets and limited time for ‘days-out’, the water and wastewater engineer has to fit in much in his/her everyday working life. So, it is often a great advantage to be able to see many of the latest industry innovations, developments, equipment and services all under one roof in a short space of time. It is important that today’s engineers keep up to date with what is currently available to them to manage and maintain their networks, treatment plants etc. Therefore the launch of the new specialist drainage industry event, Drain-ex 17, to be held at the Harrogate International Centre between 1 and 2 June 2017, will be a significant advantage to the busy modern engineer.

Drain Trader was approached by the organisers of Tip-ex and Tank-ex to join forces to create a bigger, more expansive show which could offer more for visitors to see whilst creating a platform which would offer traditional visitors to both of the other shows, access to technologies that would also be of interest to them.

After the 2015 Drain Trader Roadshows, which were not the most successful, it must be admitted, and with the recent announcement of the closure of Water, Sewerage and Waste country-wide one-day events, it has become increasingly apparent that the technologies with which exhibitors deal and customers want to see, are just not table-top type events.

Furthermore, previous exhibitors at both Drain

Trader’s larger events and the Roadshows have expressed an interest in re- establishing a larger show once again. Discussions with potential exhibitors and visitors showed that attendees were after events that allowed them to get hands- on with the kit, and see equipment in action (live demonstrations).

Harrogate has long been the perfect place for exhibitors to wine and dine their best customers but more than this it is also known for its excellent event facilities.

The aim of the new Drain-ex event is to follow the technologies available for the delivery of clean water to residences and business, to the moment wastewater is created at the home or by the business, and thereafter highlight the best available methodologies across the route from waste collection, transport and delivery to the treatment plant or disposal site through the treatment of wastewater, dosing, and cleaning to the point that treated, clean effluent is passed out of the treatment works back into the environment. This will ‘fill-the- gaps’ that currently exist in trade events that look only at certain industry areas and techniques.

The event hopes to eventually also look at areas such as SuDS (Sustainable Drainage) as just one part of the overall water management process and not as a stand-alone topic as has been undertaken by other events.

The exhibition will, it is hoped, be supported by a series of seminars on the various industry areas that can be viewed on the exhibition floor. Details of how to enter submissions for seminars slots can be found on the Drain Trader website or by calling Drain Trader directly.

Whilst a very fresh event to the industry as a whole, the early uptake of the available exhibition space has exceeded expectations. Furthermore the potential visitor base has also shown significant interest in attending so there appears to be an appetite for the event even now. There is even plenty of chatter about the new event on social media which is also very encouraging.

Exhibition stands are still available for those wishing to consider booking space, simply see the website or call Drain Trader direct.

For those that may be considering visiting, the event is FREE to enter, but 4 drain TRADER | April 2017 | www.draintraderltd.com
