Inspiration zones W
TM London’s fi ve geographical regions will have added focus this
year with the addition of a dedicated Inspiration Zone for each of them. They will host region-specifi c content sessions on a range of subjects and sectors, as well as networking events. The zones will be added to each of the fi ve main areas of WTM London: UK & Ireland and International Hub; Europe; Middle East and Africa; Americas; and Asia. The innovation is designed to put the spotlight on each of the regions, with the hubs acting as a focal point to highlight the diff erent cultures, challenges and issues. Each Inspiration Zone will host a session giving insight into the regional travel and tourism industry, presented by a data specialist. These will include ForwardKeys on the China market and Mintel focusing on the UK & Ireland travel industry, while Euromonitor
International will shine a spotlight on the Middle East and Africa. WTM London senior director Simon
Press said: “A regional centre point in the form of zones will allow each region to debate its specifi c opportunities and challenges in all sectors. Furthermore, the Inspiration Zones will be used for regionally focused networking opportunities.” Further changes will see the WTM Global Stage become an Amphitheatre holding 400 delegates. It will continue to host the main sessions, including the WTM and UNWTO Ministers’ Summit. WTM London is set to host about 5,000 exhibitors from 182 countries and regions. Press added: “About 50,000 people attend WTM London every year, with almost one million business meetings leading to £3.1 billion in industry deals. However, we are always striving to make the event even more relevant and benefi cial for our exhibitors and participants.”

nother new feature at this year’s WTM London will be the WTM Agency Pavilion. The new dedicated area will permit PR and marketing professionals to promote their services in a space adjacent to the WTM International Media Centre. Among the most recent sign-ups are three UK companies and one based in Greece. From the UK, Four Communications – which specialises in the travel and airline sector – is a major signing, together with travel magazine Wanderlust, which in recent years has branched out to include awards and accompanied experience journeys. Another confi rmed attendee is interactive digital experience company The Creative Engine. It produces e-learning tools and specialises in tourism marketing and representation. Public Relations company Made, which also organises events and travel itineraries, has also confi rmed. Also booking its place is hospitality marketing agency Travelworks Public Relations, based in Greece. Andrew Candler, The Creative Engine managing director, said: “We have been to the show as visitors, so know from experience that this is the best way to get our travel e-learning products in front of tourism boards and tour companies. “We liked the simplicity of the Agency Pavilion and the fact that every agency’s work will have equal prominence. We are also hoping to use the show to launch a new product for this industry, so are very excited about future opportunities that might develop from being an exhibitor this time around.”
