ELEGANT UNVEILS TAMARIND PLANS

Elegant Hotels (CA220) will be highlighting a series of developments including the move to turn Tamarind into an all-inclusive property. The hotel group, which was purchased by Marriott International last month for £100.8 million, subject to shareholder approval, runs seven hotels in Barbados. Marriott said it is making the acquisition to “fuel” its growth into the all-inclusive resort market. This comes as Elegant Hotels announces
plans to turn Tamarind into its “finest” family-orientated all-inclusive property with a focus on offering high-quality cuisine and family soft adventure activities. Sylvia Scholey, vice-president of sales,
marketing and e-commerce at Elegant Hotels, said: “We saw the increasing demand for all-inclusive properties on the island and globally so we wanted to serve our clients’ needs. “Our other all-inclusive properties
are all very popular and we knew Tamarind would be received well as an all-inclusive resort for those seeking soft adventure and great dining.” Another family-themed development
is Elegant’s new collaboration with baby gift brand My 1st Years to create a seven-night all-inclusive package, called My 1st Vacation, which has been designed to appeal to families with pre-school children.

“Discerning millennial travellers” and those “looking for a traditional Maldivian experience with the level of luxury expected of a five-star resort” are among the potential guests targeted by Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts (AS900) with the launch of its new property. Last month the hotel brand premiered
Varu by Atmosphere in the north-west of the Indian Ocean archipelago on Male atoll. “We are always looking for new opportunities to offer and develop uniquely formulated guest experiences in the Indian Ocean region, specifically in the Maldives,” said Venkata Giri, chief operating officer for Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts. “Following the phenomenal success of our first luxury resort in the Maldives, Ozen by Atmosphere, opened in July 2016, we can offer a similar level of luxury at Varu by Atmosphere but with a truly authentic Maldivian aesthetic as a key USP,” he added. Varu’s 108 accommodation options
include beach villas, family beach villas and over-water villas, all available with or without pools, while an exclusive over-water suite sits at the
top end of the resort’s options. An enticing all-inclusive package named Varu Plan is being rolled out to customers at the new resort. Giri said: “Our consistently high levels
of guest service and high percentage of repeat visits demonstrate the success of our all-inclusive concept. “We offer unique Resort Plans that
extend far beyond accommodation and dining, covering activities and excursions at no added cost to the guest, and offer guests a hassle-free holding with no hidden costs.” The plans are popular across all
resorts and all markets, with most visitors coming from the UK, Germany, Japan and China.
