Five-star accommodation provider Palladium Hotel Group (EU940) has revealed it will open three new properties in summer 2020 in two new destinations.
WELLNESS FOCUS AT WESTIN MALDIVES
After successfully introducing monthly wellness themes in July 2019, The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort (AS140) will continue the venture in 2020 and imminently release details of themes for the next 12 months. Previous focuses include “spiritual
rejuvenation”, “move well and feel well” and “eat well with clean eating”, while December is set to “focus on healing with energy healing, self-healing and cranio sacral therapy”. Anand Kumar, director of wellness at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, said: “The resort is extremely committed to replenishing the mind and body with a personal sensory experience, helping guests to feel rejuvenated and energised.” This strategy comes as the resort
celebrates one year of operation since welcoming its first guests in October 2018. The resort’s general manager,
Brendan Corcoran, commented: “We are delighted to be celebrating our one-year anniversary having made such an impression on our guests and the industry as a whole. “Our focus now is on how we can
elevate our experiences for our guests and make their stay even more memorable,” he added.
Grand Palladium Sicilia Resort & Spa and Grand Palladium Garden Beach Resort will extend the existing Grand Palladium brand to the Italian island of Sicily, while the Spa and Palladium Hotel Menorca (pictured) will be the only Palladium-brand hotel on Menorca and only the second outside of Ibiza. Nacho Gozalbo, commercial director for the UK, France and Scandinavia, said the Sicily properties are the result of a joint venture with investment and asset management firm Azora: “As part of this strategic partnership, €31 million has been invested into the development of this new Sicilian resort that will encompass two properties, [with] the main markets Italy, Germany and the UK.” Meanwhile, he said €26 million has been
invested in the Menorca property, which will predominantly target the UK, Spanish and German markets. “As part of our wider strategy at Palladium Hotel Group, we are also working closely with the Asian market, which offers great untapped potential for key properties,” Gozalbo added. These launches follow the introduction of the Bless Collection Hotels brand in Ibiza and Madrid, and the opening of Hotel Costa del Sol, in January 2019. Gozalbo cited travel agents as playing a key part in the Costa del Sol property’s success so far: “This particular property is heavily supported by the travel trade and occupancy levels for the first four months were extremely promising. “We want to recognise the role that
travel agents have played and are pleased to have hosted a number of fam trips with key operators and top performers.” Gozalbo also said the group has clear goals for 2020, its 50th year of operation: “Our focus is two-fold – to remain a market leader in the hotel space and to continue to
upgrade and diversify our product.” DEDICA-TED TO DISCOVERING A NEW MARKET
Italian hotel brand The Dedica Anthology (EU100) has this year begun promoting its products to the UK market for the first time. Speaking of the new marketing mission, CEO Stephen Alden said: “We have launched The Dedica Anthology [to the UK market] at a time when the global hotel industry and the luxury sector in particular are evolving, and an
opportunity exists to challenge and reinvent the category, creating inspiring spaces and relaxed rituals that are in rhythm with our guests’ lives.” The portfolio of luxury hotels
encompasses properties in Rome, Venice, Milan, Prague, Budapest, Florence and Nice, with associate properties in Venice and Budapest, and further projects under consideration.
