There’s something magical about Kyoto during fall, when its paths are blanketed in a sea of bright red and orange foliage. Those keen to witness this breathtaking spectacle should visit between mid-November and late December, when the maple leaves transform into fiery reds and the ginkgo leaves turn a beautiful shade of gold. Places not to miss this time of year include Kiyomizu-dera temple, Nijo Castle and Philosopher’s Path (pictured), named after philosopher and professor Kitaro Nishida, whose students would walk this route daily.
