Located on the harbor, the Oslo Opera House has large steps on the sloping roof with 360-degree views across the city and mountains. It’s the perfect vantage point to plan out a day in Oslo. From atop, you can see all the way to Karl Johans gate at the beginning of the popular avenue leading from Central Station through to the Royal Palace. It’s lined with small parks and shops. The royal gardens, Slottsparken, are open to the public with big green areas to enjoy. Norwegian springs and summers bring bright bursts of color in the flower gardens with cool breezes to carry the scent.

and its celebratory Nobel Peace Center. It’s a fascinating homage to the five separate prizes awarded every year in accordance with Alfred Nobel’s will of 1895. In both contrast and companionship, the nearby Norway Resistance Museum highlights the efforts of both military and civilian Norwegians during the Second World War. It’s part of the Akershus Fortress, a 13th- century fort once used as a prison, now open to the public as a military museum. It’s also a wonderful place to end the day, as it’s the perfect spot to watch a dramatic sunset.
