PAID CONTENT FOR MJØSLI LODGE

Mjøsli Lodge NORWAY

Guests arriving at Mjøsli Lodge will immediately be struck by the breathtaking view of Norway’s largest lake, Mjøsa. The lake is famous not only for its size, but also for being the home of Skibladner, the world’s oldest paddle steamer still in timetabled service. The ship has been in service since 1856, providing passage to and from settlements along the lake. She operates the same route to this day, now taking passengers on scenic tours and cultural events during the sunny summer months. The nearby city of Hamar offers a host of

attractions, including plenty of activities and food experiences such as a floating sauna and the newly built food quarter. There’s also a climbing park, bicycle routes, golf club and even a small zoo. With Hamar only a one-hour drive from Oslo, a day trip to the capital is an easy enough endeavour. One of the most popular winter activities

in the area is dogsledding with the famous Hedmarksvidda huskies. A local couple, Kjersti and Asbjørn, offer the services of their 30

huskies to take guests from Mjøsli out into the wilderness. This is a thrilling and authentic way of exploring the area, with the wind rushing past you as the powerful dogs charge across the snow and ice. The region is a hotspot for winter sports. A

number of crosscountry ski-tracks branch out from the cabin area and Budor Skitrekk ski facility is a short drive away if alpine skiing and sledding are more your speed. Mjøsli is also home to the unique and quirky

Konglehytta microcabins. These adorable little structures are shaped like pinecones, with textured wooden exteriors and a cosy ambience that’s perfect for a romantic getaway. They contain a shower, toilet, kitchen, a small living room and a double bed, as well as a terrace for outdoor cooking in all seasons. All family cabins come with outdoor whirlpool baths. Guests can rent bikes, tents, boats and a

variety of other outdoor equipment, too. There’s also a climbing park, football field, volleyball court and hiking trails.

Don’t miss The chance to have a relaxing sauna and spend time in the whirlpool bath in the spa floating on Lake Mjøsa
