really is at the heart of the whole place. The cuisine reflects the surroundings, with Arctic char, local herbs and even caribou on the menu. The large common area has panoramic windows overlooking the archipelago, and
makes for a wonderful place for relaxing, sharing stories and photos, reading a book about the great Arctic explorers or just napping in front of the roaring fireplace. Explore the wilderness on your own with
a packed lunch, or join group excursions for hiking, standup paddleboarding, kayaking, angling, berry picking, photo safaris or foraging. From late August, visitors should be on the lookout for the Northern Lights and some light snow on the mountain peaks. Dinners are sometimes served around the bonfire — with s’mores as a dessert — providing a cosy end to a perfect day. As the name suggests, the lodge offers excellent
access to the Erfalik River. World-class fly- fishing is on offer, with huge migratory Arctic char returning by the thousands during the summer months, as they have for millennia. Erfalik Lodge is the perfect destination
