Forsthofgut’s heritage stretches back to 1617, when it was a simple farm and forestry business. In the care of the Schmuck Family for more than 400 years, they transformed the property into a beautiful nature retreat. The rooms at Naturhotel Forsthofgut combine
the luxury of a five-star hotel with the gentle touch of nature. A sense of cosy comfort is created through the use of natural materials, warm colours, soft fabrics and elegant design. available, including the award-winning echt. gut essen, which provides an intimate gourmet dining experience and interaction with chef Michael Helfrich. There’s also the Austrian-themed a la carte Restaurant 1617, Genussmarkt and Japanese Lakeside Restaurant, among many others. Owned by the Forsthofgut, the historic
Mauthof Farm comprises 54 acres of sunny meadow and pastureland surrounded by 25 acres of forest. It operates according to strict organic
procedures, with livestock including broiler chickens, lambs, geese and pigs. Eggs, cheese, vegetables, butter, fresh fish and honey are all produced by local farmers and partners. Younger guests are catered for with Rocky’s
Kids’ Club, complimentary for children aged from two to 14. Rocky (the club’s deer mascot) visits daily, and there are fun nature-related activities overseen by trained staff. miniGUT is a 7.5-acre petting farm, forest playground and game reserve especially for kids. Children are encouraged to help look after the sheep, rabbits, ponies and goats; the adjacent forest adventure playground is a place to burn off energ with treehouses, suspension bridges, tarzan swings and streams. The award-winning forest-themed waldSPA
offers 5,700sq metres of peace and relaxation. In addition to the spacious adults-only area with wooden sauna, steam baths, swimming pool, and whirlpool bath, the waldSPA Family & Kids area features a 70-meter slide to delight younger guests. There’s also the 24-hour fitness studio for guests who want to keep their fitness up.
