MOST HAIRCARE GETS THE SCALP WRONG
Dermatology-led scalp care for every hair type
Healthy hair begins with a healthy scalp. This guiding principle sits at the core of Eumel, a dermatologist-developed brand bringing clinical discipline, inclusivity and biological understanding to modern hair and scalp care
Rooted in science rather than beauty trends, Eumel is built on the under- standing that while hair textures vary widely, the scalp is skin — and bene- fi ts from evidence-informed, careful- ly balanced formulations. By placing scalp health at the centre of haircare, the brand off ers a considered alterna- tive to one-size-fi ts-all products. T e name Eumel is derived from
eumelanin, the pigment responsible for the diversity of human skin col- our. T is biological reference refl ects the brand’s inclusive ethos: acknowl- edging shared skin physiology while recognising meaningful diff erences in hair structure and scalp needs. Available via the Mia Pelle plat- form and Debenhams Online, Eumel launches with two targeted products, with further developments planned to address a broader range of hair types and scalps.
THE FOUNDER Eumel was founded by consultant dermatologist Dr Ophelia E Dadzie, whose clinical work focuses on dis- orders of the skin and scalp across a wide range of ancestral backgrounds. With advanced training in genomic medicine and dermatopathology, she
brings a deep understanding of the molecular biology that underpins skin and hair health. Alongside years of clinical practice
and advisory work within the cosmet- ic industry, this experience shaped a clear vision for Eumel: to apply der- matological expertise to areas of hair and scalp care that have historically been underserved. Dr Dadzie’s aim was to create eff ective, science-led solutions that are inclusive by design, without compromising performance or tolerance.
A SCALP-FIRST PHILOSOPHY Eumel is built on a scalp-fi rst ap- proach. Rather than treating scalps as an afterthought, each formula- tion is designed to support scalp comfort, balance and function — whether hair is straight, coiled, fi ne or coarse, worn loose or in protective styles. T is dermatology-led philosophy
allows Eumel to deliver products that are clinically considered yet cos- metically refi ned, prioritising long- term scalp wellbeing alongside every- day usability.
THE PRODUCTS T e Eumel Calming Shampoo for Textured Hair is the brand’s fi rst ex- pression of this approach. Developed for curls, coils and waves, it gently cleanses while supporting scalp com- fort and hair hydration. At the core of the formula is Sweet Potato Leaf
extract, selected for its conditioning and softening properties and current- ly subject to an international patent fi ling. Pre-clinical research suggests activity in biological pathways asso- ciated with hair vitality. T e formula is supported by salicylic acid and Zinc PCA to help maintain scalp clarity, with castors and argan oil enhancing softness and manageability. T e Eumel Soothing Scalp Spray is designed for all hair types. Light- weight, fragrance-free and alco- hol-free, it delivers targeted scalp comfort between wash days or during protective
styling without residue.
T e spray is pH-balanced and gen- tle enough for daily use. It helps support scalp hygiene and comfort.
INCLUSIVE BY DESIGN Eumel represents a modern approach to haircare — calm, intelligent and clinically grounded. Designed for everyone, it combines dermatological expertise with an informed under- standing of hair diversity. Available now on Mia Pelle and Debenhams Online.
