Four Seasons to open $400m beachfront resort in Okinawa
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is to open a new property on the Japanese island of Okinawa. The plan to build the $400 million resort and private residences on the island follows the success of Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Kyoto. The 120-room, 120-residence and 40-villa hotel, named Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences Okinawa, will span 100 acres of beachfront and is due to open in 2023.

Luxury Maldives resort Gili Lankanfushi is being rebuilt after a major fire last month. The private island in North Malé Atoll was forced to close after the blaze destroyed seven overwater villas, one restaurant and the main kitchen. A representative said the hotel is now “in the rebuilding phase” but couldn’t confirm when it would reopen. The resort is offering a range of alternative options during closure, including issuing refunds and holding bookings.
