Colombo, Sri Lanka

estled in the heart of olobo and only k fro the airport although traffic will mean even this short distance will take some time), Uga Residence is the perfect stop-off at the start or end of a trip to Sri Lanka. Built in the 19th century, this secluded boutique hotel makes you forget that you are in the middle of a bustling capital city. Originally a family home, it was designed to host receptions and entertainment on a grand scale. It’s now home to 10 suites, each decorated with ornate furnishings and Persian rugs. The restaurant is the stand-out feature, with options to dine indoors or al fresco. nspired by the avours of ri anka, all the dishes  tried were delicious, but advise custoers to try the arissa yellow fin tuna with rosemary skewers on a hot, sizzling Himalayan pink salt block – it’s making my mouth water as I write.
