Trailfinders posts record profit of almost £36m


Trailfinders posted record- breaking pre-tax profits of £35.8 million for 2017-18, up 52% year on year. Turnover was up 10.7% to £719.1 million for the year to February 28.


Omega Travel’s Atol suspended by the CAA


Far East specialist Omega Travel has had its Atol licence suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority. The Milton Keynes-based operator, which was licensed to carry 4,069 passengers a year, cannot sell Atol-protected holidays while the suspension is in place.

The Travel Network Group has unveiled a refresh of its brands.


The consortium has created new logos for Worldchoice, Worldchoice Plus, the Travel Trust Association (TTA) and The Travel Network Group. A new logo for Independent


Travel Experts, the group’s homeworking division, was also formally unveiled, having been soft-launched earlier this year. The rebrand comes as


Worldchoice celebrates its 40th anniversary, TTA its 25th and The Travel Network Group turns 10. Five of the agency stores


owned by The Travel Network Group – in Wigan, Sheffield, Leeds, Chesterfield and Shrewsbury – have already been rebranded, as have five member agencies. All member agencies are to be


rebranded by January 1, 2020. The group will provide a design service and “preferential rates” for


Grimley to quit Riviera to be sales director at Scenic


Scenic has recruited Joseph Grimley from Riviera Travel to be its trade sales director. His appointment is one


of several by the cruise and escorted tours specialist. Grimley is currently head of sales at Riviera and will join Scenic in three months’ time. He will replace head of trade sales Dawn Quinn, who is to take a 12-month sabbatical, and will oversee trade sales for the

unveiled the new brandings at a networking event at London’s Park Plaza Victoria, which was attended by more than 150 of the group’s members and business partners. “We wanted to show this year


the transformation that’s gone on at the business over the last 10 years,” he said. “It’s a different culture, different


quality, and the team have bigger ambitions than 10 years ago. The rebrand will bring that story together. With the three anniversa- ries, the stars have aligned. “You don’t just change the


branding, you have to change the story. I think everyone agrees that we have already changed the business – so we’ve changed the brands to reflect that.” Lewis added: “The new


branding will allow members to present a fresh, new contemporary look to their businesses and give them the opportunity to re-engage with their existing customers and


communicate with new ones.”  The Travel Network Group is to hold its 2019 conference in Hungarian capital Budapest from March 21-24. It expects 500 delegates at what it forecasts will be its largest conference to date.

motoring specialist Regit to be digital marketing manager, while Martin Solly has been appointed brand manager for Scenic Eclipse. Scenic has also made three appointments to its commercial team following the promotion of Rachael Shaw to global head of yield and revenue management: Chris Matthews as commercial manager, and Kerry Weldon and Mohammad Patel, both as commercial analysts.
