travel includes leading a small team managing travel for the official duties of the royal family and their households. Responsibilities include


organising air travel and overseeing operations of the Queen’s helicopter flights, use of scheduled train services and the royal train. The role is described as “critical


to ensuring that the royal household operates and purchases safe, efficient, cost-effective and appropriate travel services.” The successful candidate will


need to “ensure planning and procedures are highly effective, researching and negotiating value- for-money contracts and options

Ex-Cook cluster manager Nathan Bowen launches PTSD charity


A former cluster manager for Thomas Cook has set up a charity to fund courses on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after he was assaulted two years ago. Nathan Bowen, now a sales manager at Leisuretime Holidays, officially launched PTSD at Work on December 1. The charity will fund spaces on mental health courses for small to medium-sized businesses.

Not Just Travel boosts franchisees by 174 in a year


Not Just Travel has recruited 174 new franchisees in the past year, taking its total up to about 600. Co-founder Steve Witt said


bookings had grown by 40% and passenger numbers by 41%. The average booking value in the


past year was £3,024 and the average profit per booking was £274. “The numbers are way up on


last year,” said Witt. “The increases are down to


a mix of both recruitment and consultants getting better.” Paul Harrison, co-founder,


said: “Our business is maturing year on year, so those who are new franchisees and never sold a holiday before last year now have 80 to 100 bookings under their belt. “Every year 150 people are

AWTE raises £7k for chosen


charity Crohn’s & Colitis UK The Association of Women Travel Executives raised more than £7,000 at its Christmas lunch for Crohn’s & Colitis UK, which it nominated to be its chosen charity for 2020 at the event, held at the Tower of London. It hopes to raise £15,000 for the charity in total. Guest speaker and reality TV star Georgina Elliott spoke about her ongoing battle with Crohn’s.


Norwegian Air secures first slots at Heathrow for next summer


Norwegian Air is preparing to fly from Heathrow for the first time. The low-cost carrier has secured take-off and landing slots at the London hub to enable flights to start next summer. It remains unclear where Norwegian plans to fly to, although Orlando has been tipped as a possible destination. Norwegian is the only carrier to have been allocated new slots for summer 2020.
