CONFERENCE Jet2holidays’ Partners2Success Conference: More than 300 independent
Jet2holidays’ trade website to offer improved searches
A
n upgrade of Jet2holidays’ trade website will allow agents to search for package
holidays to multiple destinations from different UK airports. Te update to the booking
engine, made in response to agent feedback, will be rolled out from mid-December. It allows searches to multiple destinations and airports for any group size and filtering by price. Agents can currently only search
multiple destinations from one UK airport at a time and for a group of up to two adults. Head of trade sales Alan
Cross said: “We have made major enhancements. Because of the amount of flight combinations we have, the results you get back are phenomenal – so we’ve created a new platform for the search. “People don’t just want to search flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh,
Because of the amount of flight combinations we have, the results you get back are phenomenal
they want to search for Glasgow and Edinburgh. Or even Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle. “Equally, they don’t just want to
look for Alicante, they want to look for Majorca as well. “Customers don’t walk into a
travel agency and ask for specifics like seven nights’ four-star in Majorca in a particular week in August. “Tey might come in and say
they want to go away in August and discuss how long for, or where they want to go. Tis [update to the trade site] gets them there more quickly.” Other updates to the trade
site include filtering searches by Jet2holidays’ brands, including new millennial brand Vibe, which was launched at the trade conference. Cross dismissed comparisons of
the multi-destination search with legacy booking system viewdata. Vertical Group, which owns
the platform, recently touted developing a modernised version of the green-screen system – and had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to social media polls asking agents if they would like to see viewdata resurrected.
One of the main reasons agents
gave for supporting its return was the ability to search operators’ product range for any available date and destination. Cross said viewdata was “in
the past” and said booking platforms such as Jet2holidays’ trade site included the enhancements agents wanted.
Trade team bolstered with two additional positions
Jet2holidays is recruiting for seven new roles in its trade team – including two new positions. Te operator has a
19-strong team on the road supporting agents. One of the new roles
will be a dedicated social media and marketing manager for the trade, who will work with agents to help them pick the right assets to boost Jet2holidays sales. Te other new role
will be a non-retail account manager to cater for the growing number

of homeworking agents, who account for nearly 20% of Jet2holidays’ trade bookings.
Meanwhile, the
company is draſting in 19 promotional executives from other parts of the business to support the trade team in the peak selling season in January, February and March. Tey will move
from seasonal roles, such as cabin crew and destination managers, and will promote Jet2holidays products at trade events.
