Minister Brophy announces further €2 million in humanitarian assistance for the crisis in Venezuela
Minister of State for Overseas Development, Colm Brophy TD, today expressed his concern about the humanitarian situation caused by the Venezuelan migrant crisis and pledged €2 million in humanitarian assistance from Ireland towards the international response to the crisis – a doubling of last year’s grant.
Last month, 7,484 Venezuelans were
encountered by Border Patrol agents along the US–Mexico border – a record high number.
