1:50 000 Scale Maps
1. (i) (a) Scale is the relationship between a distance on a map and its corresponding distance on the ground.
Convert the distances in the box below into centimetres (cm) and kilometres (km) using the scale 1:50 000.
Exam Hint
For maps with a scale of 1:50 000, the scale is 2 cm:1 km.
