What to look out for in October & November


Wintering birds like Redwings and Fieldfares will be arriving from the north and east whilst several breeds of ducks and Diver species will arrive in the reedbeds around Slapton.


Fieldfare


The Redwing has rust-red on its side and under their wings. Its face has a white eyebrow stripe and dark brown cheeks. Its spots on its front appear blurred.


The Fieldfare has a distinguishable blue- grey head and back, with a black tail. Both birds are often seen in loose flocks with other similar birds such as starlings.
