PRODUCT LAUNCHES OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Mark your diary for this year’s hottest new hotels and other supplier launches in Europe

L

AUDABLE NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS for travel buyers may include a determination to gain better intelligence. But where do they start? There’s a whole host of new hotel openings scheduled for 2020, as well as new product from airports and train operators. Some launches will warrant a personal inspection, otherwise industry events also offer the perfect opportunity

to meet suppliers face to face to get the lowdown.

The first of a raft of new Paris hotels, Mama Paris West (mamashelter.com/en/paris-west) opens in the 15th arrondissement as an affordable business hotel. Situated minutes from the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre, it offers nine meeting rooms and event spaces for 12 to 245 guests. The Bulgari Hotel offers 76 rooms in its new Paris location

on Avenue George V, while Cheval Blanc in the old Samaritaine department store is also scheduled. Over in Zurich, La Reserve Eden Au Lac (lareserve-zurich.

com) opens with 40 rooms by Philippe Starck, who describes the decor as “dancing rock and roll with the Queen of England”. Meanwhile, in East Lothian, new exclusive-use accommo- dation – suitable for staff away-days and within easy reach of Edinburgh – The Villas at Renaissance (trcvillas.com/business) overlooks the Renaissance Club, site of the Scottish Open. One villa sleeps 12, the other 16, with optional catering, in an area offering access to 21 golf courses. Munich-based hotel group Ruby Hotels (ruby-hotels.com) is also set to launch its first UK property, with a 76-room property in London’s borough of Lambeth. Travel managers with staff doing business in the north of England can look forward to the opening of a private terminal at Manchester Airport (manchesterairport.co.uk/premiair/), offering VIP departure and arrival lounges for fees from £50 to £125 per head, including refreshments, wifi and transfers to plane. Premiair, which also fields suites for non-flyers holding board meetings or group events at the airport, launches with a VIP grand opening on 29 January.
