Ensuring water safety in healthcare settings
Altecnic, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of hydronic solutions, and part of the Caleffi Group, says it provides ‘a number of innovative
solutions’ for water systems in the healthcare sector. The Mixcal Careflo Plus thermostatic mixing valve, said to be the UK’s first of its kind, obviates the need to remove the TMV to ‘flush’ out the whole system, simplifying and speeding the process. Using a special tool and the manual override function allows thermal disinfection to be performed through to the outlets, enabling a complete, rather than a partial, flush. The Mixcal Careflo Plus TMV has been designed and made
to meet the requirements of BS 7942: 2000 and the NHS model engineering specification, D08. Altecnic offers
a range of flow- through expansion vessels, varying from 8 to 1000 litres, which are all being nitrogen filled, reducing the chance of internal corrosion, and preventing the loss of pre- charge pressure. These come fitted with a ‘Flowjet’
valve, designed to prevent stagnation or contamination in the vessel by keeping the water flowing continuously through the bladder, and allowing isolation should the expansion vessel need to be removed.
Stirling Medical and Scientific says it is ‘pleased to be at the forefront of the hospital standardisation programme’ in the UK, by providing ‘high-quality, innovative, and market-leading’ Systeméd products ‘tried and tested in the healthcare market for over 25 years’. It said: “We look forward to you visiting us at stand G10, where we will have some typical specialist rooms set up, including a Clean Utility, Anaesthetic, Pharmacy, and Laboratory, showing the correct components and considerations that must be included when designing these areas.
Space planning and equipping a medical facility “We
are also running a presentation titled ‘Simple, yet often forgotten
about, in space planning and equipping a new medical facility’, at 2:30 pm on 5 October in the Engineering & Facilities stream, along with a NHS Trust representative. This will provide a good opportunity for show visitors to obtain an overview of some simple steps to help make your project a success.”
