COMMITTEES DRIVING IHEEM’S STRATEGY AND EVENTS
As Healthcare Estates 2025 approaches, IHEEM highlights the role of its volunteer-led committees in shaping the Institute’s work. Chairs of the Management & Finance Committee, and the Conference Committee, explain how they support governance, business planning, and the delivery of the annual conference, while setting priorities for 2026 and beyond.
With Healthcare Estates just around the corner, members, affiliates, and industry leaders, are offered a prime opportunity to directly engage with the Head Office team and the Institute’s volunteer network, as part of the unmissable flagship event which closes out the annual IHEEM Networking and Events programme for 2025. Following this, the Institute looks ahead to the coming year of business development, driving towards the objectives outlined in the latest 5 Year Business Plan. Support in delivering key aspects of the Institute’s member offer and business management comes from dedicated committees comprised of IHEEM member volunteers, charged with overseeing the effective planning and implementation of these various operational streams. Below, Chairs of the IHEEM Management & Finance Committee and Conference Committee share insight into their Institute responsibilities, the objectives and activities of their committees, and future plans for 2026 and beyond.

resource allocation. It plays a key role in supporting the delivery of IHEEM’s strategic objectives while safeguarding its long-term viability. The committee meets regularly to review financial performance, approve budgets, branch spending requests, and monitor expenditure against forecast. It also provides scrutiny and assurance around financial controls, investment decisions, and procurement processes. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, the M&F Committee ensures that IHEEM remains agile, accountable, and aligned with best practice in financial governance. Beyond financial stewardship, the
committee also considers broader management issues, including staffing, infrastructure, and operational planning. It supports the development of internal policies and procedures that underpin the Institute’s day-to-day functioning and future growth. Looking ahead, the M&F Committee is focused on strengthening financial
resilience, improving transparency, and supporting innovation in service delivery. Priorities include exploring new income streams, enhancing digital infrastructure, and ensuring that resources are deployed effectively to support member engagement and professional development.
By maintaining robust oversight and
strategic foresight, the Management & Finance Committee ensures that IHEEM continues to thrive as a trusted and forward-looking professional body.
