MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTIFICATION MIRACL
guiding light at MIRACL and we believe other solution providers need to follow suit if the B2C MFA space is to achieve its full potential.”
What is the cost of implementing a single- step multi-factor authentication such as MIRACL - and how does this compare to running a standard MFA?
“Te fastest integration of MIRACL we have ever done took one hour. Admittedly it was really basic and the priority was not getting the best look and feel but that gives you a sense of what is required. Many websites use social logins (Facebook, Google or Twitter) already. Te easiest way to integrate MIRACL is to use the same Open ID Connect (OIDC) Protocol that they also deploy.
We help clients design a user flow that is optimised for the features they want and all the time we are enabling more ways to improve the look and feel of the basic product.
A fuller integration is also possible which does require more coding but the core value-add (a 99.9% login success rate or higher) and a big cut in support costs are all delivered by the basic service.”
Ultimately, how does having no support costs translate into added value for both operators and customers?
“Support costs correlate closely to user friction. More and more the success of online services will be defined by their user experience. People often consider online is all about price. It is not. Te number one differentiator for online consumers is user experience.
First impressions really matter and if users have problems logging into a service, they will quickly run out of patience and go elsewhere. Equally, if they cannot easily authenticate themselves in the checkout, they will give up. So support is not only very expensive but also impacts revenues enormously.”
“MFA adoption within consumer markets has been tiny because the user experience of MFA has historically been so bad that it has hit operators' profits in many ways. First, it has
dented traffic and therefore revenue. MFA login success rates have historically been 85-90% meaning that 10-15% of traffic is left at the front gates.
