I want to focus on wellness in 2021. What are some easy health goals I can set for the new year?

Hydration is key throughout the year, but especially important in the winter months. After all, half of our body is made of water! Try increasing your intake slowly – if you normally drink two bottles, aim for three. Enjoy warm herbal tea, sparkling water, or fruit-infused water to help you reach your goal. – Mary

Find a buddy to help you stay accountable. Whether your goal is to increase more fruits and vegetables, move more, or another healthy habit, it helps if you have someone to talk to! Even better if they are trying to reach the same goal as you. – Rabiya

Exhausted from the busy holiday season? Commit to healthy sleep habits and aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. This will help to recharge your body and mind, which will promote a healthier metabolism and boost energy levels! – Kilene

Try mindfulness in the new year –this means being present in the moment and slowing down. Research shows this helps with stress management, lowering blood pressure, and can improve sleep habits and gut health. Take a few minutes each day to breathe mindfully. – Charlotte

affordable plant-based option. Our nutritionists share some of their favorite ways to use them:

It sounds unusual, but white beans in your lasagna is a delicious warm dish on a cold winter day. Beans add fiber and protein to this classic comfort dish. – Charlotte

Taco Tuesday is a weekly occurrence at my house! This mama mixes drained black beans with jarred salsa, heats it, and serves it alongside our favorite taco toppings. – Holly

Lentil soup is a breeze in your slow cooker or pressure cooker. Mix in hearty root vegetables and serve with crusty French bread for a rustic meal the whole family will enjoy. – Rabiya

Traditional sloppy joes get an upgrade by swapping cooked lentils for ground meat in your favorite recipe. – Shanna

I make a gooey fudgy brownie that has lentils and peanut butter incorporated into the mix. The lentils and nut butter add some protein and make a fudge-like texture. Yum! – Joni
