WHAT’S NEW?
What I Learnt
This Month Liz Kentish
Take a break, clear your head
This past year has been one of our busiest, with new clients and more commissions from existing ones. On one particular day, with a full inbox and two business proposals to write, it all felt a bit much, so I pushed everything to one side and went out.
It was a sunny day, so I got the bike out of the garage and went off along the lanes. Just exercising, and letting my mind take in the beauty of my surroundings cleared the fog away.
Isn’t it always the simplest things that can take a weight off your shoulders?
A few cars that had passed me started to slow down and stopped, cars coming the other way did the same, and as I came to a halt beside them, I saw two mother ducks crossing the road with their chicks waddling along and making sure that none of them were left behind.
I saw the smiles of the people in the cars, no one minded waiting. We all wanted the ducklings to get across safely. In that moment I felt we all realised what’s important in this world, even if only briefly, before we returned to our busy lives.
When I got back I felt I felt refreshed and energized. Sometimes, when work gets pressured, you may find that all you need is just to find a quiet space to give your overworked brain some peace.
I can’t guarantee you’ll find ducks crossing the road, but you will feel better.

Cloudfm’s Standards Validated
with ISO Certifications Cloudfm, a specialist provider of facilities management services in the UK, has had its standards of quality and service validated with the award of the ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management.
The internationally-recognised accreditation is another very clear demonstration of how Cloudfm’s unique processes, systems and training framework allow the company to deliver a level of quality at the very forefront of the facilities management industry.
The ISO 9001:2015 certification is structured around several key areas of quality management in business, including customer focus, leadership, employee engagement, process, and improvement.
As Cloudfm continues to change the FM industry for the better, the ISO 9001:2015 framework reflects many of the organisational priorities that the company has always maintained, throughout the development and continuous improvement of its services.
Concurrently with ISO 9001:2015, Cloudfm has also completed and passed the accreditation process for ISO 14001:2015, which
recognises excellence in environmental management. This further award demonstrates Cloudfm’s commitment to doing business in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Jeff Dewing, Cloudfm CEO commented: “We are very pleased indeed to receive ISO 9001:2015 certification, which validates the inherent quality and robustness of our systems and processes. No significant changes were required in order for us to receive the accreditation, and that is a real testament to the strength and rigour of the quality management framework underpinning Cloudfm’s systems and processes.”
Paul Thornton, Group Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager at Cloudfm added: “Cloudfm’s processes and systems were designed from the outset to create and maintain the highest standards of quality in the FM sector. With the award of the ISO 9001:2015 certification, we are very pleased to have our industry- leading standards recognised with a prestigious and widely-recognised accreditation. We are also very pleased to have our high standards of environmental management validated by the award of ISO 14001:2015.”
