Hello and welcome to the April issue of Tomorrow’s FM. Easter went by in

the blink of an eye and we once again find ourselves in that busy part of the year where everything seems to happen at once.

Given the dominance of the subject in the mainstream news media over recent weeks, it seems apt to mention gender (in)equality. As of 4th April 2018, companies employing 250 people or more are required, by

law, to publish all information regarding their gender pay gap and bonus schemes. This will be a fascinating expose. The parity of incomes and

diversity of executive boards in some of our biggest companies is not even close to the level it should be at in 2018.

FM has been, since its inception, a male-orientated industry, with meaningful changes occurring only recently and at a pace far too slow to

equal the size of the issue. This isn’t solely a social justice issue however. So often is there talk of the ‘productivity problem’ and what businesses can do

to address this challenge, but from the experts I have spoken to so far, these two areas are intrinsically intertwined. As our companies become fairer,

as we start to concentrate on inclusion and diversity in management roles, greater innovations in the way we work will emerge and stimulate greater economic output.

In this issue we are delving into the world of Lighting, Security, Washrooms and Total FM. With topics ranging from how OLEDs are transforming the way designers approach their work to one company’s holistic facilities

management approach, some of the industry’s biggest players, including Siemens Building Technologies, Julius Rutherford, Hochiki Europe and

Clugston FM, are covering a broad range of topics that are sure to keep you going until our next issue.

Finally, after months of voting the results for the Tomorrow’s FM Awards 2018 are in. With comment from both the candidates and voters, you can see our Top Ten products and services for this year. Please don’t forget

to start nominating the products and services you feel deserve to take a place in our Top 50 next year.

Enjoy the issue. Registered in England & Wales No: 06786728
