Keeping cool under fire
It was the end of a typical day for Paul Roberts, security officer at a large building in Cambridgeshire, where he is part of the team from TC Security Services who provides manned guarding services.
The building is a new complex that is nearing completion and will become home to the 3,000-4,000 staff that are currently located in a number of buildings.
Paul was waiting to handover to the officer starting at 6pm. They were running a little late so Paul had agreed to stay on until they arrived. While he was waiting, one of the team working on the construction came rushing to the reception desk to alert Paul that there was a fire in the building. The fire department were called to attend.
Paul’s quick thinking led to him contacting the officer who was coming on duty, asking them to block off the building to prevent anyone entering it. Paul and a construction worker worked together to clear the building floor by floor pointing the 30 people on site at that time to safety.
The CEO of TC Facilities Management, Tony Reed recently visited Paul to express his thanks on behalf of TC Security Services for his sterling efforts.
Steve Staple, Operations Support Manger for TC Security Services, said to Paul: “The fact that you went
above and beyond by lending your assistance to Bouyges to clear the building, for staying late to assist with this after your shift had ended,

In a bid to ‘compete with the best products in the global marketplace’ Logic Systems has been bolstered by the arrival of experienced systems specialist Ivor Green, who is overseeing the current development programme.
Logic Systems’ General Manager, Mickey Edwards said: “Our new products perform to the highest standards, utilising the latest, innovative technology which is matched with the design of new loudspeaker drivers producing high levels of performance. Our development work has been significant, resulting in loudspeaker products that offer performance innovations among the best available in the world marketplace.”
The first introduction was the Ci Series of cabinets, a dedicated installation range aimed at the theme bar and nightclub market. The products are the result of extensive consultation with installation contractors and consultants, in order to meet requirements around ease of installation and quality.
“This is sound and build quality not normally available at this price point. Angled backs combined with dedicated yoke brackets allow compact installations close to walls and ceilings whilst still delivering a large sound from a small box,” added Mickey.
Next was the powerful V-Line range, launched last month and which features HPLS and MPLS models, both compact and lightweight. The new speakers have low frequency enclosures and are ideal for ‘flat floor’ audience coverage both indoors and outdoors.
The HPLS line source loudspeakers are designed for high power mid/ high frequency applications and require separate low frequency loudspeakers to cover the frequency range 35-125Hz.
The MPLS range is designed both for medium power, full range applications, and, also, for higher power use with separate low frequency loudspeakers.
These will be additions to the highly successful ML range, multi-functional cabinets offering flexibility in use and which are equally effective on front of house or monitor duty, making them ideal for theatre and church applications.

the way you took charge and handled the situation, is an example of your dedication and commitment to the site and the client.”
Paul Roberts, who has been a little overwhelmed by all the attention, said: “I am pleased that on this evening in
question, I was able to put in to practice the training I have been given to make a real difference to the people who were on site, keeping everyone safe and allowing the firefighters to get the fire extinguished as quickly as possible.”
