WHAT’S NEW? BaxterStorey launches in-

house Service Academy BaxterStorey has launched its newest training initiative; the Service Academy. Designed to ensure hospitality staff across the business are equipped with skills and confidence to provide a service to rival that of a five-star hotel, the initiative is the first of its kind within the hospitality industry.

Presented to hospitality and catering insiders at a launch event at Hachette UK in London this week, the Academy complements BaxterStorey’s already award-winning learning and development initiatives including the Chef Academy and Barista Academy.

Noel Mahony, Co-Chief Executive at BaxterStorey, said: “Our clients now look at hospitality service from a new perspective, with many bringing hospitality in-house but demand an offer to reflect that of a five-star hotel, or Michelin-star restaurant.

“The BaxterStorey Service Academy ensures our people are equipped to provide the very highest levels of service, matching the skillsets of those offering top-level service outside the contract catering industry.”

Bringing the training in-house has given BaxterStorey the opportunity to create a bespoke programme which exceeds industry standards, providing colleagues with confidence and knowledge to provide high quality service. Modules are focused on developing both soft and technical skills through workshop modules including hotel visit, afternoon tea and lunch experiences as well as food and wine masterclasses.

With those graduating from the course being awarded globally recognised qualifications, BaxterStorey is the first foodservice business in the UK to be accredited as an Approved Programme Provider (APP) of Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications, with Gabrielle Le Roux, Programme Developer at BaxterStorey becoming the first in-house APP educator in the food service industry.

baxterstorey.com 12 | TOMORROW’S FM Firestone refreshes online

presence Leading supplier of EPDM rubber- based roofing membranes and lining systems, Firestone Building Products UK and Ireland, has made accessing information about the company’s products, capabilities and technical support easier than ever with the launch of a dedicated UK and Ireland website.

The new site provides clear navigation across Firestone’s areas of expertise in roofing, lining, thermal insulation and façades, and features UK-based project case studies, product information and news. Designed to provide accessible and up-to-date information about the products and services Firestone offers in the UK and Ireland, the website is optimised for use on any device via any browser, making it a useful tool and reference for contractors and specifiers, both in the office and out on site.

John McMullan, Commercial Manager at Firestone Building Products, said: “In the past, our customers, contractors and specifiers could access information about our products and technical support via our European website but this was not tailored to a UK and Ireland audience.

“Our European website is still available and relevant to our

business but our new website has been specifically designed for a UK and Ireland audience with localised content, contact details and provides ease of accessibility for our contractor and partner login areas. Furthermore, all of the features and downloadable content which forms a key part of our European website is now available, including up-to-date technical data, safety data, detail drawings, installation guidelines and educational videos,” he continued.

The new website includes a training section featuring a calendar of planned training sessions at Firestone’s UK headquarters in Cheshire and online sign up to register interest in attending. It also includes case studies and images of UK projects that have been completed using Firestone products.

John McMullan continued: “Our investment in the new website is all part of an online strategy that has also seen us engage with contractors and specifiers via social media on Twitter (@FirestonebpUK), and Linkedin (Firestone bpUK) ensuring that our virtual presence online supports the sales, customer service and technical support offered by our talented UK and Ireland team.”
