10 QUESTIONS

10 Questions with... Paul Webb

Each month we ask a cleaning industry professional the Tomorrow’s Cleaning 10 Questions. This month, we chatted to Paul Webb, Head of Learning Strategy & Customer Education at JobLogic.

1 2

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? Paperboy. The learning curve was unmatched: 5AM starts,

all weather and all terrain BMX riding with the thrill of being chased by a dog who definitely wasn’t just being friendly.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE CLEANING INDUSTRY? My work is all about helping cleaning and FM businesses

simplify how they operate and get the most out of their JobLogic system. I focus on turning what can feel like a complex platform into a practical tool that saves time and boosts performance.

3 4

WHICH THREE WORDS DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY?

Curious, dependable and grounded.

IF YOU COULD VISIT ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHY?

I’ve been lucky enough to visit a large number of countries, but Madagascar is the one that sits at the top of my list. I’ve always had a love of animals and wild, epic scenery, and Madagascar offers both in abundance. The idea of seeing lemurs, chameleons and untouched landscapes that exist nowhere else on earth really captures my imagination.

IF AN INTERN WERE TO START TOMORROW, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE THEM?

Be curious about the why, not just the what. Ask questions, understand workflows, spend time in the field and understand the real pressures that cleaners and facilities teams face day to day.

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY TOMORROW, HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR FORTUNE?

Family comes first, then once I’d had my fill of exploring, I’d put some of it into setting up and funding dog and animal rescue centres. Because life’s too short not to have some fun, I’d bring a few of my favourite bands to play in my local town.

8 9

IF YOU COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY AND INVITE ANY THREE PEOPLE, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO

WOULD THEY BE AND WHY? Kurt Cobain, songwriting genius. I’d want to see if he’d be as quietly insightful as I imagine. Kenny Dalglish, because football needs a bit of dry Scottish humour at the table. David Attenborough, as I could listen to him narrate the passing of the salt and still be in awe.

WHAT, DO YOU THINK, IS THE FUTURE OF THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?

Smart, data-led and human. There’s already a shift toward connected buildings where cleaning is planned based on use, air quality and occupancy rather than just time schedules. The real future is in skilled, respected people using technology that makes their jobs safer, faster and more visible. Cleaning is already moving from reactive to predictive, a positive shift for everyone.

Chris Lett, Sales Director at Kärcher UK, asks: 10 5

HOW WOULD YOU IMPROVE THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?

Focus on visibility and value. Cleaning teams often do vital work that’s unseen or underestimated because it’s seamless when done well. Giving those teams better digital tools to log work, evidence standards and share data, builds recognition and drives improvement. Technology shouldn’t replace good people, but it can help them streamline and showcase their value more clearly.

WHAT INNOVATION OR PRACTICE DO YOU BELIEVE WILL SHAPE THE FUTURE OF

SUSTAINABLE CLEANING OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS? Integrations. Sustainability won’t come from one big invention, but from connecting the dots, equipment that talks to building systems, data that drives more efficient routes and digital audits that cut paperwork waste. The more joined-up we make our workflows, the less we waste in energy, time and materials.
